Working through Your Grief by Creating Something

November 27, 2022

One of the best ways to work through grief is to work on a project that can benefit your whole family, or the group of people who are also mourning the loss of your Loved One is to create something that honors the person and brings fun, laughter, memories and tears.

You can do this in a few ways.

1. Get all the lists of the people who knew your Loved One, family, friends, those who they may have worked with and also check the list of people who they were in clubs with, members of their church or religious organization, and those who sent cards or came to their service. Get their word out to all these people and groups and ask them to email or send in the mail their favorite stories of your Loved One, and include any photos they may have of them. Then take all these wonderful cards and letters and scan them all as .jpg files and upload them to your computer. Then go to one of the photo sites and organize the letters into a book! These stories will give so much to all of you who loved your Loved One so very very much!

2. The other thing you can do is scan and organize photos of your Loved One with different sets of family and friends. Then you can put together photo books for each of them. If you can’t afford to print all of them, just reach out to the different groups of people and let them know the books are done and you are happy to order if they will pay for them. I guarantee that many people would love to have such books to give to their different family members as a holiday or birthday gift.

3. If you can document a bunch of family stories, or their history and add photos you can create some of the legacy books that are one of the newer family legacy options.

Here are the companies that I have found online. I have no personal experience with any of them.

A Life Untold

“We believe it should be easy, fun and affordable for anyone to record their life story. https://www.alifeuntold.com

Family Heritage Publishers

Saving the stories of your life in a custom book by Family Heritage Publishers may be among the most important things you ever do! It can impact lives for generations to come.“ https://www.familyheritagepublishers.com

StoryWorth

Preserve meaningful moments and memories in a beautiful keepsake book. Then, share the experience with Loved Ones and discover stories you never knew. https://welcome.storyworth.com

U Build A Book

U BuildABook is a great way to preserve your memories. Old photos tend to yellow and get more and more brittle as time goes on and memories seem to fade, so why not preserve your family memories in a book which can be passed down? https://www.ubuildabook.com
